CHICKEN DALCHA🍗

INTRODUCTION :- chicken Dalcha is one of the heathiest cuisine. It is an Indian lentil- based stew . We can get all the necessary nutrients through this delicious dish. everyone should add this recipe in their diet, prepare it and enjoy having it with all the family members at least once in week.

Dalcha is usually devoured with plane cooked rice. Can be made both the types veg and non veg. Dalcha originated from Hyderabad, Telangana. It is among most popular dishes of India.

Health benefits :– As this dish is prepared using chicken which is protein rich also contain B12,B6 ,niacin, biotin, magnesium, pantothenic acid helps in reducing tiredness and fatigue. Most people make it using chana dal (split chickpeas) however I prefer using combination of three lentils chana, masoor and moong dal. lentils are rich in plant protein, potassium , folate, and iron etc. lentils help in reducing cholesterol level , support digestive system also good in reducing blood sugar level. over all this dish is full of protein vitamins and minerals. Vegetables added in this dish too are nutritious. This dish is healthy and tasty .

Ingredients :- 1) Chicken 1/2 kg 2) 2 Onions 3) Two tomatoes 4) Coriander leaves 4) mint leaves [optional] 5) ginger garlic paste 6) Indian spice mix 7) lentils – Chickpeas 1/4 cup, yellow lentil 1/4 cup, red lentil 1/4 cup 8) Vegetables – one small size bottle gourd [calabash cucumber ], fenugreek leaves 1cup, spinach 1cup, Green sorrel [Ammbat chuca ]1/2 cup 9) turmeric powder 10) red chili powder 11) dry red chilis 3.

RECIPE :- Step 1) Wash lentils soak them in water for at least 1/2 an hour. Cut tomatoes , put the lentils and tomatoes in cooker ,add water double the amount of lentils, add 1/2 tsp oil , add salt to taste, add 1/4 tsp turmeric powder and let cook until done. Wash vegetables, cut leafy vegetables in small slices, cut bottle gourd in medium cubes ,take out the white part.

Step 2) Take cooker or thick bottom vessel. Put it on gas stove , start the stove keep flame medium high. Pour two tablespoon oil let heat for a minute, add two sliced onions fry till golden brown. Make flame slow then add 4 cloves, 1 black cardamom, 1star anis ,2-3 small size cinnamon sticks, 2-3 bay leaves , add dry red chilis, add 1tsp ginger paste, 1tsp garlic paste, 1/2 tsp chili powder {if you don’t want it hot don’t add or add little bit} ,add 1/2 tsp of coriander powder.

Add 1/2 tsp Indian spice mix ( Garam masala) ,1/4 tsp turmeric powder and 1/4 tsp black pepper powder now add 1/2 kg chicken, one glass of water and salt as per taste .Let chicken cook until done. Step 3) Add cooked lentils to chicken let boil for 2-3 minutes then add vegetables let boil for few minutes ,check salt and our Dalcha is ready garnish with coriander leaves. Serve with white rice, jeera rice .
