OAT MEAL UPMA FOR WHOLESOME LIFE

RECEPIE :-

INGREDIENTS :-

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 tablespoon oil or ghee
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onions
  • 1/4 cup chopped carrots
  • 1/4 cup chopped bell peppers (any color)
  • 1/4 cup peas
  • 1 green chili, finely chopped (adjust according to your spice preference)
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro for garnish
  • Lemon wedges for serving (optional)

METHOD :-

  1. Prepare the Oats:
    • Dry roast the rolled oats in a pan on medium heat until they are slightly golden and have a nutty aroma. Set them aside.
  2. Tempering:
    • In the same pan, heat oil or ghee. Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Allow them to splutter.
  3. Sauté Vegetables:
    • Add chopped onions, green chili, and sauté until onions become translucent.
    • Stir in chopped carrots, bell peppers, and peas. Cook for a few minutes until the vegetables are slightly tender.
  4. Add Spices:
    • Add turmeric powder and salt. Mix well to coat the vegetables with the spices.
  5. Cooking Oats:
    • Pour in 2 cups of water and bring it to a boil.
    • Reduce the heat to low, slowly add the roasted oats while stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
    • Cook on low heat, stirring occasionally, until the oats absorb the water and become soft and fluffy.
  6. Garnish and Serve:
    • Once the oats are cooked, garnish with chopped cilantro and mix well.
    • Squeeze some fresh lemon juice on top for a burst of flavor (optional).
  7. Serve Warm:
    • Oatmeal Upma is ready to be served. Enjoy it warm on its own or with a side of yogurt or chutney.
