“Sun smart,” why should we be sun smart? What is the connection of being “sun smart ” with wholesome life style? So Dear friends it is Just as we eat healthy food to nourish our bodies, similarly we should also nourish our skin and shield our skin from the harmful rays. Now lets see why and how should we protect our skin from sun rays in connection with wholesome life style.

why must we protect our skin?

Sun rays damage our skin . the harmful effects of the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays. UV radiation can cause sunburn, premature aging, and increase the risk of skin cancer. Also eye damage and weakened immune system.

  • Skin Cancer: UV rays can damage the DNA in skin cells. which leads to the development of skin cancer e.g. melanoma
  • Premature Aging: UV rays break down the collagen and elastin in our skin. These are fibers that keep skin plump and youthful. This leads to wrinkles, leathery skin, age spots, and other signs of sun damage.
  • Sunburn: Is the painful inflammation caused by damaged skin cells
  • Eye Damage: UV rays can damage the eyes too. Which can lead to cataracts (clouding of the lens) and pterygium (growth on the eye surface), both potentially affecting vision.

4.Proper hydration is essential for healthy skin. Drinking an adequate amount of water helps maintain skin moisture and elasticity, preventing dryness and irritation. Aim to drink at least eight glasses of water per day, and increase your intake during hot weather or when exercising.

5.Daily gentle skin care routine is good for skin. don’t use harsh cleansers.

6. We go for regular body checkups however we mostly neglect skin checkups . keep a routine of regular skin checkup. Stop neglecting simple looking rashes, sunburns , dark spots etc.
